pasteurised

Made safely drinkable

Pasteurised is the British spelling of pasteurized—heat-treated to kill harmful microorganisms.

The process, named for French scientist Louis Pasteur, is standard for milk, juice, and other perishable liquids: pasteurised milk, pasteurised eggs.

Unpasteurised products carry higher risk of foodborne illness but are prized by some for flavour.
