park ranger
Wilderness area officer
A park ranger is an official responsible for protecting and maintaining a public park, forest, or other natural area.
Rangers patrol their territory, enforce regulations, assist visitors, manage wildlife, and respond to emergencies like wildfires or lost hikers.
In the United States, park rangers work for federal agencies like the National Park Service or for state and local parks.
The park ranger warned us about bears in the campground.
