Dismissing a decision
Overruling is the act of rejecting or setting aside a decision, objection, or ruling.
A judge overrules an objection when denying it: Objection! Hearsay. Overruled.
Courts engage in overruling when they reverse precedent: The overruling of Roe v. Wade sparked protests nationwide.
Someone with authority can do the overruling of a subordinate's decision.
