overflow pipe
Excess water outlet
An overflow pipe is a tube or channel that prevents a container from exceeding its intended capacity by allowing excess liquid to drain away.
Common in toilets, water tanks, and sinks, it provides a safety outlet when the primary drainage fails or when water rises too high.
Water dripping from the overflow pipe usually means the ballcock needs replacing.
The term also applies to any pipe designed to handle excess flow in plumbing or industrial systems.
