overdrafted
Spent beyond balance
Overdrafted describes a bank account that has been drawn beyond its balance, resulting in a negative amount.
The term appears in financial contexts when someone has spent more than their account held: My account got overdrafted after that automatic payment went through.
Less formally, it extends to any resource depleted past its limits.
