overcontrol
Too much oversight
Overcontrol is excessive regulation or management, whether of systems, processes, or behavior.
In psychology, it describes rigid self-restraint—suppressing emotions, avoiding risks, inhibiting spontaneity: Her overcontrol masked deep anxiety.
The verb means to control too tightly: Parents who overcontrol their children may stifle independence.
The opposite tendency is undercontrol.
