off-licence

Alcohol retail shop

An off-licence is a British shop licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption elsewhere—off the premises, as opposed to a pub where you drink on-site.

The term also refers to the license itself.

Americans call such establishments liquor stores or package stores: I'm just popping to the off-licence for some wine.
