oedipal

Like certain complexes

Oedipal describes feelings or behavior involving a child's unconscious sexual attraction to the opposite-sex parent and rivalry with the same-sex parent—the pattern Freud called the Oedipus complex, after the mythical Greek king who unknowingly killed his father and married his mother.

More loosely, oedipal suggests any fraught parent-child dynamic: Their relationship had an oedipal intensity.
