ocean dumping
Polluting the sea
Ocean dumping is the deliberate disposal of waste materials into the sea—industrial chemicals, sewage, dredged sediment, or garbage.
The practice was largely unregulated until environmental concerns led to international restrictions in the late twentieth century.
The company was fined for illegal ocean dumping of toxic waste.
