nursemaid

Hired child tender

A nursemaid is a woman employed to care for young children in a household—feeding, dressing, and supervising them.

The term is old-fashioned, largely replaced by nanny or babysitter.

To nursemaid someone is to look after them with excessive attentiveness: I'm not going to nursemaid you through this project.
