nuclear scan
Tracer-based body imaging
A nuclear scan is a medical imaging procedure in which a small amount of radioactive material is introduced into the body, then detected by a specialized camera to create pictures of organs or tissues.
Different scans target different areas: bone scans detect fractures or cancer spread, thyroid scans assess gland function.
The doctor ordered a nuclear scan to check for metastasis.
