noninflammable
Resistant to burning
Noninflammable means not capable of catching fire or burning.
The word is synonymous with nonflammable, though noninflammable is less common.
Both terms emerged because *inflammable*—which actually means easily set on fire—was misread as meaning fireproof: Store noninflammable materials in this cabinet.
