no contact order
Court-mandated separation
A no contact order is a court directive prohibiting one person from communicating with or approaching another, typically issued in cases involving domestic violence, stalking, or harassment.
It may forbid phone calls, texts, emails, social media contact, and physical proximity: He violated the no contact order by showing up at her workplace.
Unlike a restraining order, which a victim requests, a no contact order is often imposed by a judge in criminal proceedings regardless of the alleged victim's wishes.
