newspaperwomen
Women in print
Newspaperwomen is the plural of newspaperwoman—a female journalist or newspaper employee.
The term emerged when women in journalism were rare enough to warrant distinction from the default newspaperman.
Now largely replaced by gender-neutral terms like journalist or reporter: The newspaperwomen of the early twentieth century faced considerable resistance from male editors.
