neon tubes
Bright bar lights
Neon tubes are glass tubes filled with neon or other gases that glow when electrified, used primarily in signage and lighting.
The characteristic bright colors—red-orange from neon, other hues from different gases—defined the visual language of mid-20th-century commercial districts: The neon tubes of the old motel sign still flickered at night.
The term often extends loosely to any gas-discharge tube lighting, regardless of the actual gas used.
