halogen lamps

Hot incandescent lights

Halogen lamps are incandescent light bulbs that use a halogen gas (typically iodine or bromine) to increase brightness and lifespan.

The halogen allows the tungsten filament to burn hotter and whiter than standard bulbs while recycling evaporated tungsten back onto the filament.

Common in automotive headlights, stage lighting, and desk lamps, they produce intense, focused light but run hot to the touch.
