nanofibres

Ultrathin synthetic strands

Nanofibres are extremely fine fibres with diameters measured in nanometres—typically less than 1,000 nanometres, or one micron.

They're manufactured for applications requiring high surface area relative to volume: filtration, wound dressings, tissue engineering, protective clothing.

The mask uses nanofibre technology to filter airborne particles.

Also spelled nanofibers.
