nanodevice
Microscopic functional machine
A nanodevice is any extremely small machine or mechanism engineered at the nanometer scale—roughly the size of molecules.
The term appears in discussions of emerging technology: medical nanodevices that could deliver drugs directly to cancer cells, or nanodevices that assemble materials atom by atom.
Researchers developed a nanodevice capable of detecting single virus particles.
