misclassify
Label under incorrectly
To misclassify is to place something in the wrong category or assign it an incorrect label.
The error can be accidental or deliberate: workers misclassified as independent contractors lose benefits; a tumor misclassified as benign delays treatment.
The algorithm misclassified the email as spam.
