military governors
Martial regional leaders
Military governors are officials who administer a region under martial authority rather than civilian law, typically during wartime, occupation, or political crisis.
They exercise executive power backed by military force: The military governor imposed a curfew throughout the occupied territory.
The role may be temporary until civilian government is restored, or it may persist under authoritarian regimes.
