microweddings

Small-scale nuptial events

Microweddings are intimate wedding ceremonies with very few guests, typically under fifty and often closer to ten or twenty.

The term emerged in the 2010s as couples began choosing smaller celebrations over traditional large weddings—sometimes for budget reasons, sometimes for preference: We had a microwedding with just immediate family.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the trend when restrictions limited gathering sizes.
