living-room

Sofa's usual home

A living-room is the main room in a home for everyday relaxation and socializing—distinct from bedrooms, kitchens, or formal parlors.

The hyphenated form is less common than the open compound living room: We watched TV in the living room.

British English sometimes uses sitting room or lounge for the same space.
