mayoress
City's leading lady
A mayoress is a female mayor, or the wife of a mayor who serves as his ceremonial consort.
The term is primarily British and somewhat old-fashioned; in American usage, female mayors are simply called mayors.
The mayoress cut the ribbon at the new library opening.
