mainliner

Direct injection addict

A mainliner is someone who injects drugs directly into a vein—the "main line" being a major blood vessel.

The term appears in drug culture and clinical contexts: He'd been a mainliner for years before getting clean.

Separately, a mainliner can be someone belonging to a mainstream group or institution, particularly mainline Protestant denominations.
