lubber
Awkward sailor type
A lubber is a clumsy, awkward person—someone big and ungainly.
The word appears most often in the nautical compound landlubber, a sailor's dismissive term for someone unfamiliar with ships and the sea.
On its own, lubber sounds old-fashioned and mildly comic: The great lubber knocked over three chairs getting to his seat.
