logotherapy
Frankl's therapeutic approach
Logotherapy is a form of psychotherapy developed by Viktor Frankl, centered on finding meaning in life as the primary human drive.
Rather than focusing on pleasure (like Freudian analysis) or power, logotherapy holds that purpose and meaning—even amid suffering—are what sustain psychological health.
Frankl developed the approach partly from his experiences in Nazi concentration camps: Logotherapy helped patients discover meaning in their circumstances rather than escape them.
