logical connectives

And, or, not

Logical connectives are words or symbols that join propositions in formal logic: and, or, not, if-then, if and only if.

Each connective has precise truth conditions—P and Q is true only when both parts are true; P or Q is true when at least one is.

In everyday language, these words behave less rigidly, but logical connectives demand exactness: If it rains, the ground gets wet becomes a formula where the conclusion must follow whenever the condition holds.
