local hero
Neighborhood's celebrated figure
A local hero is someone celebrated within a particular community for their actions or achievements, even if unknown beyond that area.
The term often carries warm connotations of grassroots recognition: He became a local hero after saving the kids from the fire.
It can also be used with gentle irony for minor accomplishments that receive outsized hometown attention.
