living nativity
Christmas manger scene
A living nativity is a Christmas display depicting the birth of Jesus using real people and sometimes live animals rather than statues or figurines.
Churches and community groups stage these outdoor scenes during the holiday season, with participants costumed as Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and wise men gathered around a manger: The church puts on a living nativity every Christmas Eve.
