manger
Stable dining spot
A manger is a trough or open box in a stable or barn from which horses and cattle eat.
The word is most familiar from Christmas imagery, where the infant Jesus was laid in a manger because there was no room at the inn.
Outside of nativity scenes, manger appears mainly in rural or agricultural contexts.
The horses gathered around the manger at feeding time.
