limey

Slang for Briton

Limey is a mildly disparaging term for a British person, used mainly by Americans and Australians.

The word comes from the lime juice British sailors were given to prevent scurvy on long voyages.

The term is more playful than hostile: My limey cousin still can't get used to American football.
