limekiln

Ite roasting oven

A limekiln is a furnace for heating limestone to produce quickite calcium oxide, used in mortar, plaster, and agriculture.

Traditional limekilns were stone structures built into hillsides; industrial versions are large rotating cylinders.

The word combines lime (theite calcium product) with kiln (a heating chamber).
