liches
Skeletal magic wielders
Liches are undead sorcerers in fantasy fiction and games—wizards who have achieved a form of immortality by binding their souls to objects called phylacteries.
Unlike mindless undead, liches retain their intelligence and magical powers, making them formidable villains.
The singular is lich, from an Old English word for corpse that survives mainly in lychgate, the roofed churchyard entrance where coffins once rested.
