legislative sessions
Parliament in session
Legislative sessions are the periods when a legislature formally meets to conduct business—debating bills, holding votes, and carrying out governmental functions.
Most legislatures operate on scheduled sessions: Congress convenes in January for a new session, The governor called a special session to address the budget crisis.
Between sessions, the legislature is in recess and cannot pass laws.
