leg ulcer
Lower extremity sore
A leg ulcer is an open wound on the leg, typically below the knee, that heals slowly or not at all.
Most result from poor circulation—venous ulcers from inadequate blood return, arterial ulcers from insufficient supply.
They're common in older adults and people with diabetes or vascular disease: The nurse dressed his leg ulcer twice weekly.
