bed sore
Immobility causes this
A bed sore is an ulcerated area of skin caused by prolonged pressure, typically from lying in bed or sitting in a wheelchair for extended periods.
The pressure cuts off blood flow, causing tissue to break down.
Bed sores most commonly develop over bony areas like the tailbone, hips, and heels: The nursing home was cited for patients with untreated bed sores.
Also called pressure sore or decubitus ulcer.
