leaf cutting
Rooted foliage segment
A leaf cutting is a piece of leaf removed from a plant and used to propagate a new one.
Many houseplants, especially succulents, can be grown from leaf cuttings placed in soil or water: I started these begonias from leaf cuttings.
The term also describes the behavior of leaf-cutter ants, which harvest foliage to cultivate fungus gardens.
