lead glass
Heavy optical material
Lead glass is glass containing lead oxide, which increases its density, clarity, and refractive index.
The lead content makes it easier to cut and gives it a brilliant sparkle, making it prized for fine crystal stemware and decorative objects: a set of lead glass decanters.
Lead glass also blocks radiation, so it's used in X-ray room windows and protective screens.
