ladyfish
Bony coastal swimmer
A ladyfish is a silvery, elongated game fish found in warm coastal waters, known for its spectacular leaps when hooked.
The name applies to several related species, particularly *Elops saurus* of the Atlantic.
Despite its fighting spirit, ladyfish are bony and not highly valued as food: We caught three ladyfish but threw them back.
