knee pit

Behind the kneecap

The knee pit is the soft, concave area at the back of the knee where the leg bends—the counterpart to the inner elbow.

Anatomically called the popliteal fossa, but knee pit serves when you need the plain term: I got a mosquito bite right in my knee pit.
