kilowatt hours
Electricity billing measure
A kilowatt hour is a unit of energy equal to one kilowatt of power sustained for one hour.
Electric utilities bill customers by kilowatt hours consumed: Our monthly usage dropped to 800 kilowatt hours after we installed solar panels.
Often abbreviated kWh.
Not to be confused with kilowatts, which measure power rather than energy.
