D cell
Large cylindrical battery
A D cell is a standardized cylindrical battery, the largest of the common consumer sizes.
D cells power devices requiring sustained current—flashlights, portable radios, large toys.
The designation follows the letter-based system where AA and AAA are progressively smaller.
The boombox takes eight D cells.
