kiln firing
Heating clay objects
Kiln firing is the process of heating ceramics, pottery, or other materials in a kiln to harden or transform them.
The firing drives out moisture and causes chemical changes that make clay permanent and durable.
Different temperatures produce different effects—earthenware fires at lower temperatures than stoneware or porcelain.
The kiln firing took twelve hours to complete.
