kick turn
Stationary direction change
A kick turn is a stationary maneuver for reversing direction on skis or a skateboard.
On skis, you lift one ski and rotate it 180 degrees, then bring the other around to match—used on slopes too steep for a simple turn.
In skateboarding, you press down on the tail to pivot the board while the rear wheels stay planted: She did a quick kick turn at the top of the half-pipe.
