Leaping curved release
A jump hook is a basketball shot combining a jump shot with a hook shot—the shooter leaps off the ground while releasing the ball in a sweeping arc over the head, typically with one hand.
The elevation makes it harder to block than a traditional flatfooted hook: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook was essentially an exaggerated jump hook.
