Lakers
Los Angeles hoopsters
Lakers most commonly refers to the Los Angeles Lakers, a professional basketball team in the NBA.
The name originated when the franchise was based in Minneapolis, Minnesota—the "Land of 10,000 Lakes"—and was retained after the team relocated to Los Angeles in 1960.
The Lakers won five championships in the 1980s.
Lowercase, a laker is a boat designed for lake navigation, especially on the Great Lakes.
