Jeeps is the plural of jeep, a rugged four-wheel-drive vehicle designed for off-road use.
The original Jeep was a military vehicle developed for World War II, and the name became a trademark for civilian versions.
Lowercase jeep sometimes refers generically to similar vehicles: We rented jeeps to explore the back roads.
The word likely derives from "GP" (general purpose).
