invasion fleet
Hostile naval force
An invasion fleet is a naval force assembled to transport troops, equipment, and supplies for a military invasion of enemy territory.
The term evokes large-scale amphibious operations: The D-Day invasion fleet was the largest in history.
In science fiction, invasion fleets typically arrive from space rather than sea: The alien invasion fleet darkened the sky.
