internet shutdown
Connectivity goes dark
An internet shutdown is a deliberate disruption of internet access by authorities, typically governments, affecting a region or entire country.
Shutdowns may target specific platforms or block all connectivity.
Governments impose them during protests, elections, or civil unrest to control information flow: India leads the world in internet shutdowns.
Also called a blackout or kill switch.
