intercessors

Those who intervene

Intercessors are people who intervene on behalf of others, typically by praying or pleading for them.

The term appears most often in religious contexts, where an intercessor prays to God for someone else's benefit: The church appointed intercessors to pray for the sick.

More broadly, any advocate or mediator who speaks for another can be called an intercessor.
